That was the Josh Mandel campaign’s pathetic response to a reporter when asked whether Roy Moore, a Senate candidate in Alabama, should drop out of the race if he had sexually assaulted minors.

Not Of course he should drop out. Not No way should a pedophile be allowed in the Senate. Not even a Yes, but only if it’s true.

Five women – so far -- have accused Moore of pursuing them when they were teenagers, with the youngest victim saying she was just 14 years old at the time. And former police and mall security said his creepy conduct had him banned from his hometown mall.

Even Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “I believe the women.”
