Tell the Ohio Senate- No Guns at COSI & Other Public Space

Two weeks ago, Sen. Joe Uecker, R-Loveland, introduced a bill that will FORCE COSI and other facilities operating on publicly-owned land to allow visitors to carry guns. This meant cities, and other institutions might be forced to allow guns in places where alcohol is served. Places like Nationwide Arena, Gund Arena and the Cincinnati Zoo. This could have meant guns at community and church festivals around the State.

After pressure from community leaders, activists, and citizens Uecker backed off and removed those provisions from the bill.

But its not over yet! There are still parts in the bill that would allow:

  • nonresidents to get their license to carry loaded weapons in our public places in Ohio
  • the license training to be reduced from twelve to eight hours
  • the criminal offense to be removed if someone carries their weapon in a place that a private person has posted a sign prohibiting it.

We need to take action and remind our legislators:

we wont stand for this!

We wont stand for sneaky tactics that will make it easier for people to get their licenses and carry their weapons where we take our families.
